This Site
Through school, I learned about a program called the WCATY (Wisconsin Center for Academically Talented Youth) Young Scholar Program. It’s a program designed for kids in 7th or 8th grade throughout the entire state of Wisconsin, who would like to apply for a grant to go “in-depth” and study a specific field of research with a mentor (or adult specialist on the topic.)
Because I had been dealing with trich for quite some time, and wanted to learn more about it, I thought doing some sort of project with Trich would be a good idea. From there, I went through the application process. Each student must have a final project in mind, and mine was a website for others to benefit from. I was interested in web design, and created a couple other sites, so I knew a Trich site would be fun and a great experience for me, as well as beneficial to others.
After a month or so, I found out that my application had been accepted, and I started my work! My mentor was Dr. Douglas Woods, the Associate Professor of Psychology and Director of Clinical Training at the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee. He is also a very active member or the TLC Scientific Advisory Board. Dr. Woods has studied Trich his entire career and now is the leader in the TIP and M-DOTS studies. I worked with Dr. Woods over a course of 5 months, while he helped me find information, and provided me with experiences to create my site. To learn more about Dr. Woods, CLICK HERE!
I hope that this site has what pullers are looking for, regarding support, information, and resources. I’ve enjoyed making this site so much, and I have gained so much knowledge throughout my project. If you have any suggestions, please contact me!
